JEWELLERY CARE
Jewellery can last a lifetime — even generations — when cared for properly. With time and wear, precious metals naturally develop small marks and subtle changes in surface. We like to think of this not as flaws, but as part of the story each piece carries with it.
Below you will find simple guidelines to help care for your jewellery and keep it beautiful for years to come.
SOLID GOLD
14k and 18K gold is made to last a lifetime and is designed to become a natural part of everyday life. Gold is not sensitive to water and can withstand most daily activities without damage.
However, gold is also a relatively soft metal. Over time, small scratches will appear with wear. These marks are completely natural and can always be polished away if you prefer a smoother, high-shine surface. Many people choose to keep them as part of the character the jewellery develops over time.
How to clean:
Soak the jewellery in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 10–15 minutes.
Use a soft toothbrush (a baby toothbrush works well) to gently clean the piece.
Rinse with clean water and dry with a soft cloth.

STERLING SILVER
Sterling silver is an alloy made of 92.5% pure silver.
Silver naturally reacts with air, moisture and the skin’s natural oils. Over time this can cause the metal to oxidise and develop a darker surface. This is completely natural and does not damage the jewellery.
The oxidation can easily be removed with proper cleaning.
How to clean:
Rinse the jewellery briefly in lukewarm water and gently dry it with a soft cloth, preferably a jeweller’s polishing cloth or chamois cloth.
If the silver has become darker, a silver cleaning fluid can be used to restore its brightness.
Avoid wearing silver jewellery in chlorinated water, as this may damage the surface of the metal.
When not worn, store your jewellery in its own jewellery box to slow down oxidation.
⸻
GOLD PLATED JEWELLERY
Gold plating is created by bonding a thin layer of gold onto another metal.
Because the gold layer is delicate, gold plated jewellery requires a little extra care. Over time the plating will naturally wear with use. If needed, the piece can always be professionally re-plated.
To extend the life of gold plated jewellery:
Remove jewellery before contact with water.
Apply perfume, makeup, hairspray and creams before putting on jewellery.
Avoid wearing jewellery while exercising, as sweat may wear down the plating.
DIAMONDS & GEMSTONES
Diamonds and gemstones are durable but still benefit from regular cleaning.
Before cleaning your jewellery, always check that the stones feel secure in their settings. If a stone appears loose, the piece should be inspected by a jeweller before wearing it again.
It is also important to be aware that not all gemstones react the same way to cleaning. Some stones are more delicate than others and may require special care. If you are unsure about how to clean a specific gemstone, it is always best to consult a jeweller before proceeding.
How to clean:
Soak the jewellery in warm water with a few drops of mild dish soap for 5–10 minutes.
Use a soft toothbrush to gently clean around the stone and inside the setting.
Rinse with clean water and dry carefully with a soft cloth.
